My Date Insisted on Paying the Bill – I Wish I Hadn’t Let Him

When Eric insisted on paying for our first date, I thought I’d met a true gentleman. He arrived with roses, a sweet gift, and charming conversation. Mia had set us up, convinced we’d hit it off. Surprisingly, we did.

Dinner was perfect—he was thoughtful, engaging, and even remembered details from our texts. When the check arrived, he slapped his card down. “A man always pays on the first date,” he said firmly. I thanked him and left thinking it was one of my best dates ever.

Then, the next morning, I got a text: an invoice.

It listed “charges” for flowers, the gift, opening my car door—each requiring “repayment” in hugs, selfies, and a guaranteed second date. The kicker? A warning: Failure to comply may result in collections (Chris will hear about it).

Horrified, I sent it to Mia. Chris, laughing hysterically, responded with his own invoice, charging Eric for wasting my time.

Eric’s angry texts followed—I blocked him.

That keychain? I kept it. A hilarious souvenir from the weirdest date of my life.
