Carly Simon finally revealed that her iconic song “You’re So Vain” is partly about Mick Jagger, confirming long-standing rumors. In her memoir Boys in the Trees, Simon wrote, “It was shortly after midnight. Mick and I…same height, same coloring, same lips.”
Born on June 25, 1945, in New York City, Carly Simon emerged as a significant rock and roll figure in the 70s. She grew up in Greenwich Village and Stamford, Connecticut, where she became close with baseball legend Jackie Robinson.
Simon’s music career began with her sister Lucy as The Simon Sisters. As a solo artist, her debut album Carly Simon featured the hit “That’s the Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be,” reaching No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other famous songs include “Anticipation,” “You Belong to Me,” and “Nobody Does It Better.”
